Amazon Games intends to add a new feature, Expedition Mutators, to New World that will change the complexity and difficulty of combat encounters to improve the endgame experience.

This system is designed to rotate through a unique combination of Expeditions and Mutations each week, with 10 difficulty levels per Expedition and Mutations. You will be challenged to climb the ladder and eventually reach the maximum difficulty. IGGM will introduce the relevant details.

Expedition Scores

Expedition Scores will be affected by many factors, which include total time, enemy kills, the player respawns, team wipes, and various rewards. If you perform well enough on your mutated expeditions, you can go to the next difficulty level. Additionally, Gear Scores are important for mutated expeditions because it directly affects the enemy scaling, and higher difficulty means more challenge.

A New Resource - Umbral Shards

The New World PTR has gone live, offering a new resource - Umbral Shards, which allows players to boost items with a gear score of 600-625. This is crucial if you want to venture deeper into the higher difficulty Mutated Expeditions, or gain a competitive edge in PvP. You can get Umbral Shards in 3 ways:

* Completing Mutated Expeditions. 

* Crafting a Gear Score 600 item when your Expertise with that item is also at 600. 

* Opening a Gypsum Cast when your Expertise for that item is also at 600.
